The First Reading for the First Sunday of Advent this year (Is 63:16-17; 64:1, 3-8) expresses a longing for the salvation that is yet to be fully accomplished. God who is responsible for Israel’s very being is like a potter who can refashion the clay when needed, so God can refashion Israel’s fortunes (cf. Jer 18:1-6). Read more…
