Under the care of the Discalced Carmelite Friars
Dear parishioners,
We woke up on Tuesday to the dramatic news of the fire in Notre Dame in the centre of Paris. Notre Dame has so much history and beauty. A parishioner said that the fire was an image of what the church was going through these days. A little later in the morning I saw this photo of the interior. In the midst of smoke, dust and rubble there was a gold cross hanging above the altar, both astonishing symbols of faith and hope. This too seemed faith. The heart of our faith abides. This is shown in the gold cross of the death and resurrection of Jesus and the altar where we gratefully celebrate the gift of Christ in the Eucharist. Read more….
