Vatican modifies distribution of Ash

Ahead of the beginning of Lent, on Wednesday 17 Feb, the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship released an instruction on the procedures for the priests around the world to follow for the distribution of ashes in the midst of the COVID 19 health crisis. After blessing the ashes, the priest addresses those present “Repent, and believe in the Gospel”. The priest then “cleanses his hands, puts on a fac emask and sprinkles the ashes on each persons head without saying anything”. A new  COVID-Safe practice for Ash Wednesday.
