Parish Bulletin, 5th August, 2012 – 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B.

Dear Parishioners,

This week we celebrate three important Feast days; the Transfiguration of the Lord,  the feast day of St. Mary Mackillop and the feast day  of St. Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein), one of the great Carmelite saints.  It is appropriate that these three feasts fall in the same week in which our church celebrates National Vocations Awareness Week, when we are called to reflect on how we respond to God’s call in our lives.  During the Transfiguration Jesus’ true divine nature was revealed in the form of a brilliant light; he chose to show his true self to his apostles so that they could understand more about the nature of God.
