About Us

Our ministry endeavours to convey something of the love, concern and gentleness of Christ and His Church by what is done and the way it is done, hence the minister to the sick will be a person of gentle sensitivity, loving concern, understanding and above all, a good listener.

In saying this, we have approximately 16 dedicated ministers who bring communion to the sick, elderly and housebound parishioners either in their homes or in a nursing home.

Each of these ministers visit at least four to five parishioners per week and take communion to them in their homes, they also bring with them a copy of the parish bulletin to keep the parishioner informed and in touch with our parish events.  These same ministers are also on a roster to visit and take communion to some of our parishioners who reside at the Ella Williams Nursing Home.

New ministers in this ministry receive training and are given a copy of the ‘Communion To The Sick’ handbook guidelines.  Ministers are required to be familiar with the contents of the prayers and scripture readings in this handbook.  Each minister is then issued with a pyx from the parish to keep in their care during the duration of their service.
