Proclaimers

Purpose

Proclaimers are ministers of the Word. Being a proclaimer is an important part of the liturgical celebration.

Key Activities

The proclaimers are rostered at least once a month to read at one of the weekend masses and there is also a separate roster for daily masses.  Proclaimers need to prepare beforehand in their own time at home and attend any Liturgical workshops that we have,  about twice a year.

About Us

We have about 30 proclaimers (both male and female, young and young at heart) who are rostered to read at one of the many weekend masses that we have.  There are two proclaimers rostered for each mass. Usually people are rostered on once a month.

Being a proclaimer is sharing your love of scripture and it is a joy and a privilege.  To become a proclaimer you need to

  • love to read and reflect on the Word of God
  • be comfortable and able to project warmth and empathy with the assembly without being overbearing or casual.
  • have the confidence and skills and ability required for public speaking
  • be able to project your voice appropriately and be easily understood
  • be prepared to give your gift and time to preparation and formation

Infant Jesus Parish is always looking for more proclaimers, especially amongst the youth.  Training is provided, even if you just want to give it a go. We would love to hear from you.  Just speak to one of the priests or ring the parish office for more details.
